Gordon takes career best 7 for 39.

Randwick hosted Minchinhampton on a damp and blustery day where the prospects of play were looking bleak and was only possible due to the covers.

Minch captain Pete Wallis won the toss and decided to bowl first. Openers Taylor and Turton bowled tightly and Randwick were struggling to get the ball away in the gale force winds. Taylor struck early to bowl Cratchley and, following numerous rain delays, Turton dismissed Patel. With both bowlers struggling for rhythm in the difficult weather conditions, a key change was made and Gordon was introduced to the attack. He repaid the move fantastically, bowling with accuracy, bounce (and a little luck!) to rip through the Randwick batting, finishing with career-best figures of 7-39 and narrowly ,issuing out one hat-trick. Randwick batted well in difficult conditions and with some lusty blows from Morss (33) and Smith (44) reached 133 all out.

Minch’s reply began strongly with openers Waring and Garschagen punishing any loose bowling as Minch raced to 50. Garschagen in particular was brutal in his hitting and rushed to his 50 in just 16 scoring shots to continue his fine run of form. Randwick fought back when Garschagen went for one big hit too many and was caught on the boundary off Kerry, Waring was bowled by Base and Powell did for Price and Raphael. This left Minch wobbling at 91-4 but some sensible batting from man of the match Gordon and Wall took Minch to the brink of a victory. Wall was bowled for 14 by Kerry, leaving keeper Cruickshank to finish the game with a big 6, Minch winning by 5 wickets to move to second in the league.

Huge credit must go to both teams for such a good game in such testing conditions and great thanks to Randwick for their great efforts in getting the game on.

In the midweek KO Cup Minch have reached the Senior Cup semi final, following a remarkable win vs Stroud CC. Despite the likes of Messrs Frape, Carmen and Job in the Stroud line up, 99no from Pat Garschagen led Minch to a huge 182. Wickets from J Waring,Cole and Taylor restricted Stroud to 156 and Minch made a giant killing win against last years cup winners. Next up is Painswick CC in the semi finals.
